TAZ MODI INVOLUNTARY MEMORIES (PT. 2)

Acclaimed pianist, composer and producer Taz Modi has returned with ‘Involuntary Memories (Pt. 2)’. His style is emotive and extremely personal, evoking feelings of nostalgia that are hard to place. This track and its earlier counterpart are explorations of both happiness and sadness together, shaped by atmospheric influences that range from Brian Eno to Oneohtrix Point Never. He expands: “When I came across the pattern that starts this tune off, there was something in the way these two major chords next to each other created a sadness and melancholy that seemed to encapsulate something in how nostalgia works - happiness and sadness coexisting side by side, something that should be joyous actually being sad, and vice versa.” His new solo album, also called Involuntary Memories, is out on May 16th, 2025. -Dan Peeke
